PHARMACOLOGY OF LEFTOSE:
 

Lysozyme is an enzyme having a mucopolysaccharide-lysing action. It hydrolyses the B-(1,4) linkage between N-acetylmuramic acid and N-acetylglucosamine of the glycan chain of bacterial cell wall. Furthermore, lysozyme enhances the effect of antibiotics, and destroys or weakens bacterial cell wall.

PRESENTATION:

Leftose syrup 500ml/bottle (5mg/ml)

Leftose tablet 10 mg, 1000s/box

Leftose tablet 30mg, 500s/box


DOSAGE:

Usual daily doses are:

Leftose syrup (5mg/ml):
Below 2 years old : 1 - 2 ml three times a day
2 - 6 years old : 2 - 3 ml three times a day
7 - 14 years old : 3 - 4 ml three times a day

Leftose tablet:
Adult : 30 - 60 mg three times a day


ACTIONS OF LEFTOSE:

    •   Anti-inflammatory action.
    •   Decomposition and excretion of mucopurulent discharges.
    •   Enhances the infection-precenting activity of a living body.
    •   Augmenting action of antibiotics.
    •   Inhibition of bleeding tendency.
    •   Increase in saliva corpuscle.


INDICATIONS:

  1. Inflammatory condition:
    Associated with diseases in the otorhinolaryngological field (eg: chronic paranasalsinusitis), respiratory tract (bronchitis), peridontal, etc.
     
  2. Difficulty of Expectoration:
    Associated with respiratory tract diseases.
     
  3. Hematoma, trauma and swelling.
     
  4. Hemorrhage of surgical operations:
    Particularly in the surgical and orthopaedic fields, and also the post-operative swelling and hematoma formation thus accelerating healing of the wounded surface.


LEFTOSE CAN ALSO BE USED IN INFANTS AND HAS BEEN PROVEN SAFE AND WELL-TOLERATED


Leftose syrup is found to be very effective for upper respiratory inflammation, acute bronchitis and asthmatic bronchitis in children and infants aged from 2 months to 5 years. It tastes sweet and is easily ingested by infants and young children, compatible with sulfa drugs and antibiotics, and enhances the efficacy of these drugs.


CONTRAINDICATIONS:

Patients who have shown hypersensivity to egg-white or patients whose family have a history of allergic reactions to egg white.
